On July 11, 2026, Prison Ministry India – Chennai, with the blessings of Most Rev. Dr. George Antonysamy, Archbishop of Madras–Mylapore, organized an Educational Assistance Programme at the Pastoral Centre, Chennai. The programme was led by Rev. Fr. Prakash, Coordinator of PMI Chennai, with the objective of supporting the educational aspirations of children from prisoners’ families.

The initiative benefited more than 80 students, providing them with educational assistance and encouragement to continue their studies with confidence and determination. The programme reflected the ministry’s commitment to empowering children through education and creating opportunities for a brighter future.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Kanakaraj, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Tamil Nadu, distributed the educational assistance and encouraged the students to pursue their dreams through hard work and perseverance.

The event was also graced by Rev. Fr. Gilbert Joe, State Coordinator of PMI Tamil Nadu, and Mr. Jesuraj, State Secretary of PMI Tamil Nadu, whose presence inspired the students and their families.

Special appreciation was extended to the Chennai Prison Ministry Team, particularly Mr. Singmar, Sr. Josephine, and Sr. Jeya, for their dedicated efforts in organizing and successfully conducting the programme.

The Educational Assistance Programme stood as a powerful expression of hope and solidarity, reaffirming the ministry’s mission to support prisoners’ families and invest in the future of their children through education.
