On August 1, 2026, a Prison Ministry Awareness Programme was conducted for the Deacon Brothers at Sacred Heart Seminary, Poonamallee, Chennai. The programme aimed to deepen their understanding of the Church’s mission of pastoral care among prisoners and their families.
The session highlighted the core values of compassion, reconciliation, mercy, and respect for human dignity, emphasizing the Church’s call to accompany those who are incarcerated and often marginalized by society. Participants were introduced to the various dimensions of prison ministry, including spiritual care, rehabilitation, family support, and reintegration.
The programme was both interactive and inspiring, encouraging the Deacon Brothers to reflect on their future pastoral responsibilities and the importance of reaching out to those in prison with Christ’s message of hope and healing.
