On July 23, 2026, Prison Ministry India – Tamil Nadu, in collaboration with St. Isabel Hospital, successfully organized a comprehensive medical camp at Puzhal Prison–1. The initiative provided essential healthcare services to 259 inmates, with 120 prisoners undergoing blood sugar screening as part of preventive health care.
The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Krishna Raj, Superintendent of Puzhal Prison–1. Very Rev. Fr. G. J. Anthonysamy, Vicar General, invoked God’s blessings by offering prayers for the medical team and the inmates. The programme was also attended by Rev. Fr. Gilbert J., State Coordinator, and Mr. Jesu Raja, State Secretary, who oversaw the successful conduct of the camp.
The Prison Ministry expressed its sincere appreciation to Rev. Sr. Fathima and the dedicated team of doctors and nurses from St. Isabel Hospital for their compassionate service and commitment to improving the health and well-being of the inmates.
Later the same day, the State Team met with Mr. Krishna Kumar, Superintendent of Puzhal Prison–2, at his office. The meeting further strengthened the partnership between the Prison Department and Prison Ministry, reaffirming their shared commitment to the rehabilitation, welfare, and holistic care of prisoners.
The day’s activities reflected the ministry’s mission of serving prisoners with compassion by addressing both their physical and spiritual needs while fostering collaboration with prison authorities for meaningful rehabilitation.
