Healing Through Care – Trichy

On August 13 and 14, 2026, Prison Ministry India – Trichy, in collaboration with St. Paul’s Major Seminary, Diocese of Tiruchirappalli, organized a free medical camp for the inmates of Tiruchirappalli Central Prison for Men. The camp was conducted in partnership with Child Jesus Hospital and with the permission and support of the Tamil Nadu Prison Department.

The medical camp aimed to promote the health and well-being of inmates by providing quality medical consultation, screening, and treatment services. This initiative reflected the shared commitment of the Prison Ministry and healthcare professionals to uphold the dignity and welfare of those living within correctional institutions.

The programme was inaugurated by Mrs. Rajalakshmi, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Tamil Nadu, along with other officials from the Prison Department. Mr. Jesu Raja, State Chief Coordinator of Prison Ministry India – Tamil Nadu, attended as the Special Guest and joined the inauguration ceremony.

The entire programme was coordinated by Rev. Fr. Benjamin Raj, Coordinator of Prison Ministry India – Trichy, whose leadership and dedication contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the camp.

The medical camp stands as a testament to the spirit of compassionate service, bringing healthcare, hope, and human dignity to inmates while strengthening collaboration between the Church, healthcare institutions, and the Prison Department.
