The Chennai Unit of Prison Ministry India (PMI) organized a one-day orientation programme for children of prisoners, marking a significant initiative to support their personal growth, educational development, and future aspirations. The programme received an encouraging response, highlighting the importance of providing dedicated guidance and support to these children.
Throughout the day, the children actively participated in engaging, interactive learning activities. Separate sessions were conducted according to their school grade levels, focusing on self-confidence, personality development, and career guidance. These sessions aimed to help the children recognize their strengths, develop essential life skills, and approach their future with confidence and determination.
Recognizing the importance of supporting the entire family, the programme also included special sessions for parents. These sessions provided guidance on employment opportunities, empowerment, and entrepreneurship, encouraging parents to explore ways to strengthen their livelihoods and improve their families’ well-being.
The successful conduct of this pioneering initiative was made possible through the generous support and collaboration of various religious congregations and the Prison Ministry India – Tamil Nadu State Team.
The programme reaffirmed Chennai PMI’s commitment to empowering prisoners’ children through education, guidance, and personal development. By investing in these young lives and supporting their families, the ministry continues to nurture hope, build confidence, and create opportunities for a brighter future.
